Journalist Marie Colvin, 56, was killed by rocket attack while reporting in Syria for the Sunday Times, which has placed her final report online outside their paywall.

Colvin worked for the Times for two decades, reporting stories from around the world, often right from the thick of conflict, even after losing an eye to shrapnel while on assignment in Sri Lanka in 2001. Colvin was a New York native, graduating from Oyster Bay High School in 1974.

Christina Boyle of the Daily News offers a profile of Colvin’s work.
