Kate Halpern, the owner of Kate’s Joint, a venerable East Village eatery known for its tofu-based Southern Fried Cutlet, Un-Turkey Club, and other tasty dishes made without animal flesh, said she would consider doing the unthinkable if the right investor stepped up to the table: Serve meat. “I hate to admit it, but put bacon on it, and they will come,” said Halpern to the Wall Street Journal in an article about the recent closures of several vegetarian restaurants in the area. bummer. but understandable.
What was their sanitation grade again? Can you imagine their lax hygiene + meat?
if they add meat i won't be going back.
Or maybe they could change/improve the veg. menu… I'm gonna be sad to see Kates go, I've been going there for 10 years but it really has gone waaaaaaaaay downhill over the past few years.
Veg places seem to have a hard time surviving, so yeah i see where they’re coming from. Anyone remember the vegan spot mighty diamond off graham l that closed in ’09? It was tge best food and cold brewed coffee in the world but couldnt shake it apparently.
