Live music funding service WeDemand operates on a simple premise: get enough fans to commit to attending a concert, and artists may be able to travel to areas they otherwise wouldn’t. First, bands sign up for the service, then “superfans” in a particular city buy advance, discounted tickets. If enough money is raised, the show is booked and the band comes to play, and if not, everyone who pledged gets their money back.

WeDemand has been operating in Brazil for two years but only recently came to the U.S., and for their inaugural show in the states, they tapped young-gun jazz trio (and Odd Future interpreters) BADBADNOTGOOD. Thanks to a successful WeDemand campaign and 75 fans, they’ll be playing Glasslands February 8.
