Remember when that kid in the world’s worst disguise sauntered into Marc Ecko’s Complex offices and walked out with a $100,000 KAWS piece? That dude, right? Here’s the amusing theft immortalized in the cartoon painting Lost Kaws by the Portland-based artist/designer OBLVN. This work really brings out the Groucho Marx-ian ridiculousness of the thief’s corny disguise. Oh. Ow. Yes.
Exhibiting at the Klughaus Gallery, this is his first ever East Coast show, so he’s prepared 100 paintings for the occasion. Drop by Klughaus for the Armory Arts Week and the Downtown/LES gallery/art walk on March 11th. “100 Paintings,” OBLVN, Mar 10 – Apr 1, Opening Reception Mar 10 6-10pm, Klughaus Gallery, Chinatown.

So a Marc Ecko employee who thinks he is a badass criminal paints a funny poster of a real criminal stealing a poster from a gallery at his work, only to hang said painting of criminal in a gallery. Isn't it ironic.
Some people make history, others just jock it.
If by disguise, you mean "a pair of sunglasses," then yes, I guess it was a disguise. Shout outs to the whole BTM.
HATERS!!! This painting is funny! Where's your sense of humor??
The KAWS thief, That’s my guy! Went to school with him for a few years, but haven’t seen him around for a while. Funny shit, yo!!!
