While this normally wouldn’t be news for a place that is pretty much synonymous with the word ganja, it wasn’t Rastafarians who were doing the burning, it was the authorities. Jamaican police torched about 15,000 pounds of weed, most of which was reportedly “seized this year” according to the Associated Press. It represents a tiny fraction of the island nation’s annual output, which like Afghanistan and Colombia, is allocated U.S. military assets, but is still able to consistently export a highly consumable drug to our shores.
