“99 Steps of Progress“ is a new series by French collective Maentis, inspired by Rudolph Zallinger’s easily recognizable “March of Progress” illustration–the one about evolution, with a kneeling ape on one side and a standing human on the other. The above video depicts several of the completed pieces, with the total 99 soon to follow. Maentis plans to unveil an illustration a day for the next 99 days–some just for fun, others serving as impact-driven social commentary. The artwork will be recreated in multiple media, such as t-shirts, stencils, and canvases. We certainly hope to see them graffitied on New York walls soon enough. Wishful thinking?
