NYC’s less than honest mayor claims he’s not trying to ban smoking with his new proposal that would require landlords to disclose where residents can and can’t light up. “We’re not trying to ban anything, but I’ve always believed, as you know, that if you want to smoke, I think [you] should have a right to do so. But it kills you,” said Bloomberg. I would have so much more respect if he would just come out and admit that he’s committed to stamping out smoking, period, but his latest denial and subsequent arguments that he’s doing it because he cares about New Yorkers is too bullshitty to bear. Sorry, but the mold and peeling paint chips at the Bryant Park subway station (and countless others) serve as daily reminders to just how committed he is to ensuring good health for city residents.

I wonder how he plans on replacing all that sweet, sweet sin tax revenue after banning smoking.
We're just talking about tobacco, right? I can still smoke weed in my apartment? What happens when I move into a non-smoking building and I have my (future) New York State medical marijuana card.. ? Isn't that discrimination?
what if there was a smoking alternative? this of course brings us to back to the topic of electronic cigarettes, their safety, and any possible health effects. a simple internet search will reveal any number of articles and studies on the subject
