Twenty years after Milli Vanilli‘s lip-syncing fiasco, they’re ba-a-a-ack. David Levine, the director behind Habit — a 90-minute single-act play that was performed on a loop for 8 hours/day — is the moving force behind Wow, a fittingly-dubbed experimental opera based on none other than our favorite 90s duo-disaster. Levine’s focus on Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus is not surprising and a bit dark, considering Pilatus tragic demise into substance abuse, which led to his eventual death in 1998 at the age of 32.
The play will be staged at BRIC House, a multidisciplinary Brooklyn arts complex, where Levine has his residency. The space will be transformed into a “real-time media production environment.” It is set to open in January 2014. Girl, you know it’s true.
