One of the reactors at a nuclear power plant located only 25 miles from the city limits and which Rudy Guliani says is perfectly safe, had to be shut down at 4:30AM on Tuesday when a pump failed. But don’t worry, no radiation leaked.

The Journal News reports that in the past five years, Indian Point 2 has been knocked offline nine times due to equipment failure of some sort or another.

Officials say the reactor must cool before they can ascertain when it will be switched back on. In the meantime, just cross your fingers or something. (Photo: Hope Abrams/flickr)
