Apparently, we aren’t the only ones compelled by our city’s many taxi drivers. Drivers Wanted, a new film devoted to documenting the lives of hacks, premieres tonight at Brooklyn’s reRun Gastropub Theater. Created Weinstein Film Production (which, as far as we can tell, has no affiliation with those other Weinsteins), the film focuses on several specific drivers and managers, including “Spider” a 93-year-old cabbie who’s been working since the ’40s. According to a New York Times review, “There’s an authenticity to “Drivers Wanted” that seems so true and tough that it overwhelms any standard immigrants-up-from-their-bootstraps theme.”
