As reported, sometimes funnyman Bill Maher never read the SOPA bill, but still decided to bitch about it on his show Friday night and greedily argue in defense of it. In honor of Bill’s hypocritical punditry when it comes to blasting numerous politicians for voting on shit they never read, we’re demanding that he read SOPA or at the very least, get an intern to scan it for him and summarize the most egregious sections. So, we started the “Read the SOPA bill, Bill Maher! Petition” and if you agree, please consider signing it, if not for the sole reason of reminding Bill Maher that he’s becoming the very thing he hates most: An ignorant American!

Bill Maher is a funny son of a bitch, but let's not forget that he fucked Anne Coulter and they are friends to this day. They are both actors for political sides and make a killing doing so. So don't get disappointed in him when he whines about his money. His money and Anne's money comes first.
reading sopa won't explain to him that a pirated download does not equal a sale. im a fan, i watch his show, i watched his movie…but in the pre-bit torrent world…idve rented religilous from blockbuster or watched it on cable…never would i have paid 20 bucks to own the dvd.
he has a point though…at the end of the day piracy is so flagrant because people are incensed by the expense of cinema and by the laziness and ignorance of these production companies to not keep up with technology…we stopped needing to print paper booklets for dvds, buy jewel cases, burn discs and ship them to stores across the world a long time ago but never was that saving passed to the consumer…so fuck them.
I watched the show. He wasn’t defending the bill at all and neither am I. He was simply being objective which is key to critical thought. His point was that the real truth behind people’s vocal opposition is the fact that people want to continue to download copyrighted content for free. That’s a fact. It has nothing to do with old media vs. new media etc. You can buy songs for a buck on iTunes and movies for like $4 and yet we all bit-torrent. That’s a fact. I’m no different but at least I’m honest about it and not patting myself on the back as a rights crusader. Our civil rights were essentially put on hold years ago with the patriot act and I never saw this much opposition. Face it peeps, the “Me Generation” didn’t go away. And on that note, I am happy it didn’t pass as it was a bit too draconian and unwieldy in terms of enforcement.
I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Superb work!
