According to new report by brokerage giant CitiHabitats, the average rental price of a Manhattan apartment is
ridiculously expensive or $3,352 a month. That comes out to about $40,000 a year, which is remarkable when you consider that the average Manhattanite only makes a pinch over $50,000 a year. (Photo: Joe DeRenzo/flickr)

I live here and I can afford it just fine and I am just a graphic designer. I live in Manhattan. I pay $1900 a month for rent and I dont go out to eat hardly ever due to health reasons. Try making your own dinner once in a while and actually buy groceries from Trader Joes and look at how much money you will save. There are plenty of free things to do in the city to keep me busy while having a few drinks every weekend. Quit trying to live like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City and you will be fine. Normal people don't need to buy $400 shoes, $2000 handbags, and eat $100 dinners every night. I think all these stupid celebrities have brainwashed normal people into trying to keep up with the Jones' or the Combs' (Diddy)
