Who wants a night rainbow?
In the wake of Sandy’s wrath all over New York — on some parts more than others — a new public art work will debut tonight as a tribute to those affected by the hurricane. Yvette Mattern’s Global Rainbow, After the Storm will beam seven very bright, very bold, very “healing” beams across “the neighborhoods that were hit by the worst of the superstorm in Brooklyn and Queens.”
Tonight through Thursday, 8pm through 2am, this will be happening. A rainbow. At night. Lasers show. No Floyd.
Forgive our bad Photoshop and the lazy juxtaposition of a random chunk of Manhattan underneath a previous Global Rainbow installation. Had we ‘shopped in one of the neighborhoods “hit by the worst” it may have looked… stranger?
