Shepard Fairey Pleads Guilty In 'Hope' Case

Last year, the Associated Press and Shepard Fairey settled their copyright infringement and Hope merch-related lawsuits. There was a settlement and a promised “collaboration” between Fairey and the AP that sounded like indentured servitude, but there was still the matter of Fairey’s lying about destroying documents and manufacturing evidence. The street artist entered a guilty plea for one count of criminal contempt in New York. The sentencing has been scheduled for July 16. Fairey faces a maximum sentence of six months prison time and a $5,000 fine.
