This is a Kickstarter trailer for a 25-minute fictionalized film tribute to Shepard Fairey’s days at RISD. The RISD student/director hopes it will do to ”the origin of OBEY” what the “The Social Network” did “to the origin of Facebook.” The drama revolves around a fortune cookie, a “historic assignment that would later establish his legacy,” and the fearless wheatpasting of the Providence mayor’s billboard on campus. Help tell the story of “a young skate punk challenging a big-city mayor and the powers-that-be at art school,” “risking expulsion and jail time” as “Shepard learns that art is a weapon and attention is both a blessing and a curse.”
“This film is authorized by Shepard Fairey and I have his life rights for the period of time that this story covers.”
Commentary seems unnecessary. Really does.

like, actually?
yea remember i comented you about this shit a while ago
Yeah, art school admins love illegal activity and expulsion-worthy activity.. when it's decades in retrospect and it's done by a hugely famous, US president-recognized art star who is all but immune to any real legal prosecution from the vandalism that "he" still propagates.
Fairey is a boring hack, but not as boring as the people who fawn over his boring work.
The fact that his work gets any attention at all is more a commentary on the lack of critical discernment in the art/culture/media world than on any inherent artistic or sociopolitical message.
Looks boring as hell. Plus there is already a movie about him. Make a movie about Andre the Giant instead.
