I’m not sure who thought this was a good idea, but the Hotel Lutetia in Paris teamed up with the director who has made sleep harder than maybe any other director of the late 20th century to design a suite. Artinfo unveiled the collaboration between the hotel and David Lynch, the latter of whom is fresh off another interior design gig.
The “David Lynch Signature Suite” will run you $1200.00 a night and looks unsettlingly…normal. Far from the disturbing accoutrements one might expect, the room is sleek, modern, and sophisticated, with muted browns and yellows that look intended to lull guests to sleep rather than disquiet them to the point where rest is impossible. On the walls are a number of paintings and drawings by Lynch himself (he is, after all, a painter, too–see here, here, and here, for example), and the interiors aren’t bland. But it’s still not what I might hope for in a bedroom designed by the master of shudders himself. But you never know. Maybe there’s a cheese-cheeked Lady in the Radiator. (We can only hope.)
