Filmmaker Jem Cohen was just featured in the Lens Blog for these hazy, gorgeous Polaroids. Look at those Greenpoint waterfront ruins — magic, even more alluring than all that vintage-NYC porn we like, although, he does have a shot of the long-buried CBGBs in there. Sigh. RIP. Here are the perks of using an archaic photography techniques: “I might walk around for a whole night, but only shoot one or two pictures,” Cohen says. “To me, they’re almost like a sleepwalker’s view of the city.” He’s the anti-shoot-4000-meh-photos-in-half-an-hour-and-call-it-a-night guy, a.k.a. my hero.

I call bullshit. I took the same picture of the 2nd Avenue sleeper 2 months ago.
