Apart from the ice, crowded lift lines, and short runs courtesy of tiny mountains, skiing/snowboarding can be fun in the Northeast when the conditions are right, but when they’re bad, they’re really bad.

That would probably explain why attendance at resorts in New York and Vermont have dropped off precipitously due to the unseasonably warm weather. The eternally optimistic New York Times has advice for those of you committed to hitting the slopes in New England: Only go to the spots equipped with extensive snow-making. Thanks!
