It seemed almost inevitable that legal action would be taken over Mayor Bloomberg’s ban on sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces, and the first shots have finally been fired. In an attempt to overturn the ban, soft-drink industry trade organization American Beverage Association filed a lawsuit against the city in State Supreme Court today, alongside several New York restaurant groups. The suit argues that the city Board of Health did not have the authority to pass the anti-soda law, which is scheduled to take into effect in March 0f next year.
