Here’s an appropriate tribute for the first man to walk on the Moon (shh, conspiracists, shh). For his portrait of Neil Armstrong, artist Tom Buch samples speckles of the galaxy and waves of the Sea of Tranquility, sculpting them into a three dimensional bust of the late astronaut. All with the magic of Cinema4D.

Buch explains:

“I loved the gold coloured reflections given off the visors in the space helmets. They gave a warped but vivid view of the scene, I thought gold was a fitting colour for such an accomplishment.”

Can’t argue with that. (Image: Tomalexbuch.com)
