Governors Island’s Interactive Sculpture Garden will indulge you in your most Post-Apocalyptic New York fantasies. There are 10 sustainable projects planned for fondling on Saturdays and Sundays from June 9th, but Zachary Landsberg’s Face of Liberty stands right out. Or rather, peaks out with a 1:1 scale, loyal fiberglass replica of the face of Lady Liberty, “submerged” in park grass, “peaking out” with just her face as if she’s bobbing in a bath or something.
“The work allows viewers to see the famous statue at a new angle,” up her nose and into her eyes. It’s going to be very fun to play End of the World with, looks like! But it might be only a matter of time before that woman in love with the Statue of Liberty comes for a visit. Don’t think about it. Don’t think about it.
