On Sunday, freelancer photographer Denise Ginley was walking along the greenway beneath the FDR in Manhattan with her boyfriend when she noticed a bizarre-looking animal carcass lying on a sandy strip of beach under the Brooklyn Bridge. “We were horrified by it and we took some camera phone pictures and then finally we decided to come back with my camera and I got up the courage to climb over the fence and get closer to it,” she told ANIMAL.
Ginley then sent those images to Gothamist who speculated whether it was a “bloated rat monster” or possibly a relative of the famed “Montauk Monster,” because naturally, that would make the most sense.
Last night, I went down to investigate and didn’t see it, so I contacted the city and they gave us a more reasonable explanation. “It was a pig left over from a cookout,” said the NYC Park Department’s press office. “We disposed of it.” UPDATE: Or is it?

i thought pigs had hooves?
yeah, no snout either, not even hairs on it….pig ears are usually larger too….not to mention the lack of hooves. teeth appear to be omnivorish to carnivorous.

Possums have a different shape to the back feet; they look like chimp feet.
yeah, not to mention the fur…all that fur. clearly is only a few days old max..NOT enough time to lose hair totally without a trace
Pretty sure it's a raccoon.
sorry, not a raccoon. You must have only seen a raccoon in a cartoon or something, lol.
Tasmanian devil?
I don’t think it’s purely coincidence that these unidentifiable creatures have washed up on shores around Plum Island where the government has their Center for Animal Diseases… I think these poor things are lab experiments the govt doesn’t want us to know about and they make it seem that much more so when they try to call a clearly five fingered animal a pig and a beaked creature (montauk monster) a raccoon… Really? And I’m Marie Antoinette.
I don’t believe in conspiracy theories or nonsense, but fact is the govt does have labs, they do have one here in NY on Plum Island, and labs are for testing and experiments soooo… yeah.
Guys. Take it easy…it’s my ex-wife getting a tan.
hahahhaha, horrible! yet still tasteful
It looks like a wombat. It has to be with those kinds of ears and hands…that kind of face. Was it a poor animal dumped when it died somewhere in transit from Australia or wherever to NYC? I am a little surprised there's that zoologist who is reported to be sure it is a raccoon, Yes, the hands are similar but I still say it must be a wombat!
It Looks like a Dog that is Bloated just look really closely at it’s Nose and Around it’s Mouth and then tell me what you think it Is because to me it looks like a Bloated Dead Dog.
