Late last night, residents of the East Village were risen from their slumber/barstool slumping to the sounds of horns, drums, trumpets and stomping. Boston Honk’s sister fest of radical marching bands Honk NYC — is in town starting tonight.
And before you start pffft-ing up a storm, a few of us coincidentally happened to catch a few of these bands perform at the Cat Factory in Brooklyn and Church blew our minds. Then they all invaded the Village, apparently.
With more than thirty bands performing in and around the Veveritse and Jalopy Theater, Honk NYC kicks off tonight. You can catch Church parade to Jalopy from Atlantic and Smith St at 8.15 and Friday. (Video: Renee Rauchut)
