Hell is being stuck on a Los Angeles freeway, bumper to poison-spewing bumper, with a broken air conditioner, feeling the smog pulsate from your lungs into your bloodstream as the vein in your neck pounds arrhythmically from claustrophobia and misanthropy, and the daisy chain of cars stretches endlessly downtown…

But wait, what’s this? A billboard, gutted and sprouting tall bamboo trees, all that elegant greenery swaying soothingly, saying it’s ok, it’s ok, shhh, woooshhh… Right in the middle of the city.

Artist Stephen Glassman already has a billboard and most of the materials for his project Urban Air that will transform “existing billboards to living, suspended bamboo gardens as an artwork, symbol, and instrument for a green future.” Nice, huh? Very nice. Here’s Kickstarter. Give that city a little breathing room.
