In what could be the world’s scariest headline, “Untreatable gonorrhoea spreading around world,” Reuters reports that strains of gonorrhoea are increasingly drug-resistant.
The superbug has developed resistance to cephalosporin antibiotics which is normally the last recourse of treatment for doctors.
And unless doctors catch the strain of gonorrhoea early, terrible side effects can occur, including “pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirths, severe eye infections in babies, and infertility in both men and women.” YAY.
The WHO doctors are amazed at the superbug because “it has not only adapted to elude antibiotics but developed less painful symptoms, increasing its survival chances.” So it’s less painful but also untreatable.
The World Health Organization calls it an “amazing interaction between man and pathogen.”
I call it “yet another reason to stay single and alone your entire life??????”
