San Francisco-based studio Stamen Design took three of the most shared images on Facebook–Marvin the MartianFamous Failures, and Ab Fab London, and created beautiful fractal animations to illustrate exactly how they go viral, moving from one connection to the next. That’s the Marvin the Martian animation above. To make things more interesting, each of the photos was shared by everyone’s favorite Facebooker, George Takei. The creators used 3 months of data, including information as specific as users’ gender, to create the visualization.
