Subway announcements are slowly but surely getting clearer and more understandable, according to a survey by rider advocacy group Straphangers Campaign: 85 percent of announcements across all trains are clear and accurate, the survey says–the best results since 1997. If that statistic doesn’t square with your personal experiences, perhaps you’re one of the unlucky South Brooklynites or Queens residents subjected to the wrath of the R train, which turned in the worst results of all, giving ”garbled or wrong information almost half the time.” Sounds about right.
