Here are some polaroids of suspected thieves and trespassers, nabbed at Pearl Fine Art Supplies in San Francisco in the mid-90s, photographed looking guilty and criminally ineloquent in the storage room while holding up the various attempted loot  — from oils and frames to spray paint to paint enamel. That gentleman is handcuffed. He looks very sad. He is thinking, how did I get here? I just wanted some paint brushes. I am a painter. See the sensitive, introspective sadness in my eyes, un-rendered into a sad, sensitive landscape painting for I am here, handcuffed in the storage room of Pearl Fine Art Supplies. Many more from the collection are here. What a work of art. Oh wait.
