ANIMAL reader Stephen Fuchsberg sent us the above photos of a Citibank building adorned with posters, wondering whether they might be the latest work in Banksy’s Better Out Than In series. The posters depict a cartoonish man who looks like Disney’s Jafar, the villain from Aladdin, under the word “Wanted” and some text in Arabic (we’re working on translating it).

UPDATE: The text above Jafar’s head says “Jafar,” and the signature in the bottom right corner says, yes, “Banksy.”

The works have a mix of sociopolitical commentary, silliness, and cultural appropriation that’s typical for the street artist. And it wouldn’t be the first time he’s used Disney characters this month.

They’re located on Mercer Street just north of Canal Street.

UPDATE 2 (10:28AM): Whatever those posters are, they’re long gone now.
