Banksy’s latest Better Out Than In piece is “Shoe Shine,” a performance/sculpture hybrid somewhere in the South Bronx today, featuring an exaggeratedly impoverished-looking young man shining the shoes of a giant Ronald McDonald. According to Banksy’s site, “The sculpture will visit the sidewalk outside a different McDonalds every lunchtime for the next week.” We’re headed to the Bronx now to find it. If you know anything, let us know.
UPDATE: It’s at 1600 Boston Road near the corner of Seabury Place. There’s a video below from Instagram user mount99.
UPDATE 2 (1:30PM): Banksy’s crew has packed it up and faux Ronald McDoanld is on the move. While they were leaving, ANIMAL’s Aymann Ismail says Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. told the crew: “Thank you for brining Banksy’s art to the Bronx. The Bronx loves art.”
Here’s Banksy’s audio guide.
