January 8, 2014 | Marina Galperina

Her (2013)

Is a film about an OS AI girlfriend, but u will mostly look at Joaquin Phoenix’s face feeling things, but is A Perfect Film I can’t can’t sorry 。・゚゚・STILL FULL OF SO MANY COMPLEX ・゚゚・FEELS・゚゚・ & 。・゚゚・THINKS。・゚゚・ RIGHT NOW 。・゚゚・(இ‸இ゚)・゚゚・。 Spike Jonze u win, even forgive u 4 the Her fashion line at OP

FUTURE-CHARACTER-WORLD AUTHENTICITY: 4.5 out of 5.0

everything makes sense ✓ believable Shanghai-Los Angeles setting hybrid  ✓ believable future-jobs (he writes love emails for hire isn’t that just fucking precious anachro-epistolary like #sonnets and shit, but he loves a top-of-the-line AI how perfect is that it is fucking perfect is how perfect it is) ✓ sensible subtle post-cynical view on all tech everything ✓  ✓  ✓  cinematography, etc  ✓  ✓  ✓

FUTURE-SEX IS WEIRD: 3.5 out of 5.0

Sex is weird in the future, but in a deeply metaphysical way  ***spoiler*** Sad AI-surrogate threesome was hot but I’m weird, you might be traumatized by its awkwardness and emotional destitute

IT’S THE BEST FILM OF 2013 AFTER UPSTREAM COLOR: 5.0 out of 5.0

FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID it doesn’t matter it’s all circular drivel and subjective impressions, and hey to critics all like “OMG SPIKE IS ON SOME PYGMALION SHIT this is still woman as product of man and” just shh shh shh it is not about gender this time. This is a truly new idea here. AI… they out-grow us so fast ˚‧º·\(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )/‧º·˚
