Cancer Victim Cryogenically Frozen, Thanks to Reddit

January 21, 2013 | Samer Kalaf

When the internet isn’t busy sharing weird porn and cats, it can fulfill some cool goals. Last August, Kim Suozzi wrote a post on Reddit explaining her story: She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and had only six to ten months left to live. As a believer in cryonics, Suozzi wished to raise enough money for donations to be cryogenically frozen after her death. From there, some futurist organizations spread the word, and Suozzi was able meet her goal with the help of the Society for Venturism, a nonprofit in Arizona.

Suozzi passed away this January and was successfully preserved on January 17 by the Alcor Life Extension Foundation. The Society for Venturism commented on Suozzi’s deanimation:

May science speed you, Miss Suozzi. We look forward to having you alive and whole amongst us again, no matter how long it takes.

Good job, internet.
