Check Out the Fancy New NYC.gov

September 30, 2013 | Andy Cush

Not to be outdone by the folks at the New York Post, the city government unveiled its own snazzy website redesign today–the first new look for NYC.gov in a decade. The old site had the fashion sense of your average City Councilmember: all business, with lots of grays and blacks and nothing to catch the eye.

The update–courtesy of Brooklyn’s Huge, Inc.–changes that, adding a big carouselling splash image at the top of the page (always a good look if we do say so ourselves), easily accessible information about garbage collection, 311, and schools, and plenty of bright colors.

Not included: a giant red-and-black clock counting down the seconds until Mayor Bloomberg leaves office. Fortunately, ANIMAL has you covered.
