An environmental science professor at Huston-Tillotson University is planning on living in a dumpster for an entire year. Jeff Wilson hopes to transform the 33-square-foot waste bin into a sustainable living space, with a bed, shower, toilet, and high speed internet. According to Wilson, the project aims to show that “one can have a pretty good life in a dumpster.” As part of this ambitious endeavor the professor will be enlisting the help of his students.
“While the project could have been centered around a large cargo container or a tiny house, we decided on the dumpster,” reads the description on the project’s site. “A dumpster is the perfect symbol to present themes on waste and consumption in an engaging way. It’s weird. It’s fun. It gets the wheels of imagination turning.”
