Dissected Disney Characters by NYCHOS at Mighty Tanaka

August 13, 2013 | Kyle Chayka

The cartoon-inspired work of the young and nationally recognized Austrian street artist NYCHOS is the subject of a recently opened solo exhibition at Brooklyn’s own Mighty Tanaka art gallery. The show, titled ‘Silly Slicesophy‘ features a selection from the artist’s latest body of work–– in which he focuses mainly on depicting some of Disney’s most instantly recognized cartoon characters, but with a bit of an unsettling and expressive twist.

In addition to numerous walls in Brooklyn and the various paintings and illustrations featured throughout the show, the artist has also created a new print with 1xRun as well as a custom made patch made specifically for the exhibition itself. Be sure to check out some images from the show (in the above gallery) and feel free to stop by the gallery yourself for the unique opportunity to see this artist’s work right here in the New York City.
