DSLR Camera Sensor Up Close
Looks Like Abstract Art

February 12, 2013 | Eugene Reznik

Here’s a photograph of the inner-workings of a camera, much like the one used to make this photograph. Many image-makers in recent years have set photography and its process as their subject, a number of which were showcased at MoMA’s “New Photography 2012” exhibition that closed last week. None took it to the conceptual extreme however that the astrophotography blog The Landingfield did when they published a series of images made with a 40x microscope and CMOS sensor from a broken Nikon DSLR. You can read into the technical description of what it’s like “peeping into a pixel,” or just revel in all its abstract geometric glory.
