The game designer Pierre Chevalier created EMMA, the best thing I’ve seen on the internet today. The premise: go here, press the space bar and you’ll be confronted with a super high-contrast black-and-white footage randomly grabbed from Google Maps. Press it again, you’ll get a sentence of someone’s dream that they’ve recorded on DreamBank. Space again, and you’ll get another Maps image, and so on.
I can’t quite explain why, but it is mesmerizing, haunting, or–in the case of the screengrab above–very funny to watch those little anonymous bits of people’s lives slowly pass by. First seen on Waxy.
