Photographer Fernando Pereira Gomes created “Street Photography V,” a series of photos captured from within the video game Grand Theft Auto V. The virtual photos–taken using the in-game camera phone–share many characteristics of IRL street photography, though the game’s architecture poses considerable limits: resolution is quite small, for example, and it’s impossible to crouch and change perspective. However, it is through these limitations that many of these photographs thrive..

“I’ll go on long walks, and sometimes I’ll find a background on the street that really pleases me, and maybe I’ll hang around there and see if anything interesting happens,” Gomes told Mashable. “I can’t go out and look for the photo — you have to anticipate what is going to happen around you, and you have to react to it with your camera.”
