Hans Ulrich Obrist’s Book Trailer Thinks Like Clouds

11.26.13 Kyle Petreycik

Compiled by Paul Chan’s own Badlands Unlimited, the book Think Like Clouds collects many of the unseen diagrams, notes, and drawings of Hans Ulrich Obrist, the superstar curator who’s been co-director of London’s Serpentine Gallery for the past twenty-two years.

During his conversations with artists, Obrist draws and takes shorthand notes incessantly, in hopes of helping him remember and later expand upon the topics at hand. These visual representations of his conversations are composed of names, dates, quotes and sketches. The upcoming book features an introduction by Paul Chan and an essay Michael Diers.

Take a look at the book trailer above which features a portrait of the curator and historian by artist Ian Cheng layered over video games of the past accompanied by a delightful mash-up of Nine Inch Nails and Carly Rae Jepsen.
