Here’s a Database of 150,000 Animal Sounds

January 17, 2013 | Andy Cush

Ever wonder what a giant otter sounds like? How about a striped skunk? Arctic loon? Red-throated loon? How about a Texas field cricket? No? Just me?

Thanks to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Macaulay Library, a brand new online database of recordings of those and some 150,000 other animals, now you can hear all of those and many, many more. Seriously, get ready to lose yourself in this thing. My personal favorite is the aforementioned giant otter, that adorably angry creature above.
