The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History recently received over twenty of Jim Henson’s puppets and props on the anniversary of what would have been the Muppets creator’s seventy-seventh birthday. Acquisitions include characters from The Muppet ShowSesame Street and Fraggle RockAccording to the museum’s blog, the collection will not be on display until many of them undergo several small repairs before they are suitable for viewing by the public.

On, and there’s that shutdown of the federal government with all Smithsonian institutions including the National Museum of American History being closed. The Mars Curiosity rover and now this? Elmo-o-o-o!
