Happy birthday, London Underground. The world’s oldest subterranean railway hits big one-five-oh this year. To commemorate, artist Mark Wallinger was commissioned to make 270 unique works, one for each station in the network. Ten in this new series “Labyrinth” have just been unveiled. The stark black-on-white maze designs are simple but alluring — perhaps too simple. Maybe they’re not just distractions for the empty-handed, but part of some grand cryptic mystical signification. Something about illuminati? Obviously.
