Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer (2013)

These women are in a prison labor colony because they danced in a church for a few seconds and made YouTube video with a punk song about the president how many times do you I have to tell you this story seriously it’s so important why haven’t you watched this documentary yet what is wrong with you Russia is not a good place to live right now also silly hats with holes. This an incredibly nuanced documentary. Their brilliant court statements are in it. HOW’D THEY GET THAT FOOTAGE. I’m in love with Katia.

POLITICAL IMPORTANCE: 4.5 out of 5.0

PUTIN SUCKS. THINGS BAD.

EMOTIONAL FEELINGZ: 3.5 out of 5.0

Hi Mom: Plz watch this movi e its about my heroies and their parents understand the important off political dissent, as well controversial performance art and activism, and they’re educated, they read French philosophy. Plz WATCH THIS MOVIE< MOM! Or you will never. Never understand. I CRIED- me

BALANCE: 2.5 out of 5.0

I’m starting to realize that the reason that Pussy Riot come out as angelic heroes against a villainous regime of oppression and doom and a country of cowardly cronies isn’t because this is an unbalanced documentary. You can dangle that one time they “did porn” in the news all you want, Russia, but everyone knows that things are really that fucked.
