Hunting Rats With Your Pet Dog
Is a Thing Now

April 30, 2013 | Marina Galperina

Sure, New York has a rat problem. A rat plague, if you will. There are goddamn rats everywhere. But maybe taking your terriers and dachshunds out for a rat hunt in a grimy Manhattan alley isn’t the solution?

The AP reports that there are these “ratter” people who get together to play fox hunt in New York. They plop their pets somewhere particularly vermin-ridden and cheer as the dogs chase and bite into rats and drag around their bleeding corpses. It’s fun for the dogs, a dog breeder from Jersey insists. They get in touch with their wolf roots. Their 100,000-year-old wolf roots, you know?

Animal advocacy groups disapprove of the dog-on-rat bloodsport for ethical reasons, but generally, anyone who is going make their dog chew on a filthy beasts stuffed with chemicals is a stupid idiot.
