New York Times Says “Fuck” in Print for the Second Time Ever

August 27, 2013 | Kyle Chayka

The New York Times has crafted itself as a reputable news source throughout the years, much unlike other daily news sources. However, the rep comes at a cost. You can’t say “fuck.” Most of the time.

For the second time ever, the Times said “fuck” in print, in an excerpt of the novel Dissident Gardens by Johnathan Lethem.

Quit fucking black cops or get booted from the Communist party. There stood the ultimatum, the absurd total of the message conveyed to Rose Zimmer by the cabal gathered in her Sunnyside Gardens kitchen that evening.

The last time the New York Times used the word fuck was during the Monica Lewinsky scandal in 1998:

In a recorded conversation later on October 6, Ms. Lewinsky said she wanted two things from the President. The first was contrition: He needed to ‘acknowledge . . . that he helped fuck up my life.’

Honestly, we don’t see what all the fucking fuss is about.

UPDATE: Ah, so they’ve done it before? Look at that thing on the internet.
