The NYC Mayoral Remix Contest

September 17, 2013 | Andy Cush

Here’s a treat for those of you who produce electronic music and are interested in NYC politics. Our friends at Evolver.fm point to WNYC Soundcheck‘s mayoral remix competition, in which participants are asked to create tracks using at least one of a handful of samples of past mayors speaking. There’s Rudy ranting about “little weasels,” Koch going on about boom and zoom, doom and gloom, and yes, even El Bloombito makes an appearance.

Read the full rules (basically you have to use at least one of the provided samples, and no outside sampling is permitted) and enter the contest here. The winner will get a shout out on air, and DJs will play some of their favorite selections. Deadline is September 29.
