To the sure delight of pot-smoking, Bach-loving Coloradans, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra is hosting “Classically Cannabis,” a series of concerts that invites attendees to bring weed to the performance.
“This partnership is part of an overall effort to reach out to every segment of our community,” said Jerome Kern, CEO of the symphony. “These businesses have expressed a willingness to support the Colorado Symphony’s mission. Our doors are open to any legal, legitimate business that wants to help.”
Three BYOW events will be held at Denver’s Space Gallery, and a fourth at Red Rocks. The prospect of openly smoking at one of our country’s most beautiful outdoor venues was apparently too good to be true, however, as Denver’s Arts and Venues Office put the kibosh on smoking at the park.
No word on what’s being performed. May I suggest the psychedelically swirling strings of Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique? Or, for something more contemporary, the mellowed-out ambience of John Luther Adams or Arvö Pärt would do quite nicely.
