Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer who put Eric Garner in a prohibited chokehold that caused his death, is also a liar. According to Pantaleo’s lawyer, the troubled cop told investigators that he didn’t choke Garner:
“He indicated he never used a chokehold,” said his attorney, Stuart London, who was present at the interview with several investigators, CNNreported. “He used a takedown technique he was taught in the academy. He said he never exerted any pressure on the windpipe and never intended to injure Mr. Garner.”
That of course is a lie, for two reasons:
1) The city medical examiner ruled Garner’s death a “homicide” that was caused by “the compression of his chest and prone positioning during physical restraint by police.”
2) There’s video of Pantaleo putting Eric Garner in a chokehold.
