#FloodWallStreet Protest In Photos

On Monday morning, following the world’s largest environmental march ever, an estimated 1,000-plus people took over Broadway in lower Manhattan for a protest dubbed #FloodWallStreet. Activists wanted to voice their displeasure over what they call the climate crisis, many emphasizing that capitalism is a huge cause for the decimation of our planet. Protesters outlined an NYPD car as if it were a dead body.

As opposed to previous clashes between the Occupy protesters and cops, the NYPD showed tremendous restraint throughout much of the day and just let the crowd sit in the street, sing songs, draw with chalk, and play soccer for hours. When asked why the shift, one detective quipped “new administration.”

Finally around 7PM, police gave the protesters notice then began making arrests. There were over 100 people taken into custody, including a polar bear.

It’s unclear whether this man was detained, but his song along should have gotten him pinched.
