Kanye West Meets Matthew Barney

February 14, 2014 | Marina Galperina

Here’s Kanye West at the confusingly celebrity-studded world premiere of Matthew Barney’s River of Fundament, the five-and-a-half hour epic opera-art-film loosely based on a book by Norman Mailer.

So, if Kanye West’s music video has any of the following elements, we officially called it:

– hypersexual zombies
– Ancient Egyptian zombies
– a giant toilet throne
– rivers of shit
– melted cars
– melting cars
– wielding, sparks, man-made lava
– double-amputee Aimee Mullins
– Detroit

Though the rapper and art fan has already worked with established artists Takashi Murakami and Marco Brambilla, we’re crossing our fingers… but not holding our breath.

But if he does, and whether he does so via thematically homage or by properly hiring Barney to add some Egyptian zombie sex or classic Cremaster-ish lore to his music video repertoire, let’s hope he does it before Lady Gaga straight up rips it — again — and pretends she’s never heard of it. (Photo: @KimeYeUpdatesBAM)
